Philosophy of Care

I chose to be a physician because I knew from an early age that I liked to help people, as I got older I enjoyed the challenge of taking care of people in a serious acute illness. I gravitated to cardiology because of the high pressure demands of treating patients with acute heart problems. The satisfaction of meeting a patient in the hospital who is having a heart attack, restoring flow to their heart and then seeing them get up and walk out in just a couple of days is so amazing. I know through our heart attack team at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center we are helping people lead longer unimpaired lives every day. My goal for my patients is to become their physician and friend, and follow them closely so the years go by without incident and marvel as they get old gracefully!

I really appreciate his concern with my physical health. After listening to my concerns related to high liver enzymes due to prescribed medication by a dermatologist to deal with toenail fungus, he prescribed blood tests. I have been off the medication now for a couple of months but he informed me that if there were irregularities he would refer me on to a liver/kidney specialist.

Dr. Parent was excellent from pre-op, surgery, post op in hospital and post op Re-check after 6 weeks. Dr. Parent was knowledgeable, clear and concise in explaining procedures and follow up, was always attentive to patient questions. Dr. Parent was caring and compassionate and my overall experience was excellent.
