Junior Volunteer Information

The Saint Alphonsus Junior Volunteer Program is for high school students ages 16-18.

To apply, an application, school counselor recommendation, personal reference and parental consent form must be completed and submitted. There are limited junior volunteer positions available. All forms must be submitted by April 1st for consideration. Email BO-VOLUNTEERS@sarmc.org with any additional questions.

It is an organization of teenage volunteers who give of their time, without pay, to provide essential services that help the medical center and add to the comfort and happiness of the patients, staff, and visitors. There are very limited spaces available. If you are not selected, please try again next summer.

This is an opportunity for you to learn new skills, develop new interests, make new friends, and enjoy the satisfaction that comes from helping others.

Age: Sixteen or have completed 10th Grade by June 12th.
GPA: A 3.0 grade point average is required. 
Completed Health Screening to verify immunizations through Saint Alphonsus Employee Health Department.

Yes! To complete the application, process the following must be submitted.

Junior Volunteers are scheduled each shift to run errands as requested by nursing stations. These errands include dismissing patients, making pick-ups and deliveries at the nursing stations, laboratory, or other designated locations. You will also deliver flowers, plants, mail, and gifts.

The Volunteer Office is open 9am-4pm Monday-Friday with varying shifts through the day. Volunteers are expected to complete one shift each week. While school is in session, there will opportunities to volunteer during school breaks, holidays, and other occasions.

A required orientation session will be held the week of May 25, 2026. Once orientation is completed you can begin your volunteer experience. The program will run through the summer until August 14, 2026.

Yes, these opportunities are on a case-by-case basis depending on the needs of hospital departments.
