ASCEND
Accelerating Skills and Clinical Experiences to Nurture Development
The ASCEND (Accelerating Skills and Clinical Experiences to Nurture Development) Nurse Intern Program at Saint Alphonsus is a paid internship designed for nursing students entering their final year. This full-time, 8-week summer program provides hands-on clinical experience alongside an RN preceptor, aiming to enhance time management, organization, prioritization, assessment, and nursing skills. The program continues with flexible scheduling through graduation, offering educational opportunities to support a smooth transition to becoming a Registered Nurse.
The goal of the ASCEND Nurse Intern Program is to help nursing students feel better prepared for the transition to practice as an RN by accelerating skills and clinical experiences to nurture development of time management, organization, prioritization, assessments, and nursing skills with confidence.
Who Is Eligible for ASCEND?
To be eligible for the ASCEND Nurse Intern Program, candidates must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program, be in good academic standing, and have satisfactorily completed a basic nursing fundamentals course. They must also be entering the final year of an accredited registered nursing education program.
Application Window
Potential Candidates must have an anticipated graduation date of Fall 2026 through Spring of 2027 for the summer of 2026 Cohort.
