Opportunities

Medical Technologist

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required. Entry-level positions do not require experience; however, experience in a clinical lab setting is preferred.
  • Licensure: ASCP or equivalent certification as a Medical Technologist is required within one year of employment.

Phlebotomy Technician

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • Experience in phlebotomy in a hospital setting preferred.

Clinical Lab Technologist

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or Health Related Science field required.
  • With your Bachelor’s degree there are two opportunities to get certified:
    • Medical Technologist - Saint Alphonsus is a clinical training site for the University of North Dakota and Idaho State University’s twelve-month Clinical Laboratory Internship programs. The programs are based on a 4+1 curriculum, designed for those with a bachelor’s degree in a science related major. The University of North Dakota’s program includes a four-month summer program at the university (May through August) followed by an eight-month clinical internship at Saint Alphonsus. Idaho State University’s program is a nine-month university-based program with a three-month clinical internship.
    • Medical Laboratory Technician - Saint Alphonsus is a clinical training site for two Medical Laboratory Technician programs. North Idaho College and Wenatchee Valley College. The first three quarters of course work are pre-science courses preparatory to the MLT courses. The last five quarters of the program are spent concentrating on the various disciplines of the medical laboratory. Both programs allow distance learning through various forms of interactive tele-education.

Medical Laboratory Technician

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: An Associate degree, ASCP certification OR equivalent certification OR at least 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, including 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) of chemistry and 6 semester hours (9 quarters hours) of biology AND successful completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course.
  • Licensure: ASCP or equivalent certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician t is required within one year of employment.
