“Life is short and you never know how things can change in an instant.”
Meet Randy, a pancreatic cancer survivor who received life-saving cancer therapy and surgery, right here in Idaho. Thanks to the collaborative work of Dr. Leah Stockton, Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Camille Berriochoa, Radiation Oncologist, and Dr. Jenny Ru, Medical Oncologist, among many others involved in his care, Randy was able to overcome a difficult cancer close to home and near his family. “Staying close to home, in your own environment, it means a lot.”
Cancer cases like Randy’s are discussed at a multi-disciplinary tumor board where Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Pathologists, and Radiologists meet to discuss treatment plans, which in Randy’s case involved chemotherapy and radiation therapy followed by surgery.
“Cancer is an ugly word. It still is,” says Randy, “it hits you pretty hard.” Having gone from dealing with tremendous pain to a full and sustained remission, Randy’s story is a testament to the great care available here in Idaho – and how that positively impacts a patient’s outcome.
Watch Randy’s story and hear from Dr. Stockton as she explains in detail the surgery that helped Randy’s life.
