Requirements: MD; completion of an ACGME accredited fellowship/residency program in Vascular Surgery; ABS Certification in Vascular Surgery (or obtain such certification within 3 years of employment); ability to admit, provide comprehensive examinations or consultations, diagnose and perform surgical procedures on patients of all ages, including trauma, presenting with illnesses, injuries and disorders related to the practice of Vascular Surgery; knowledge and experience with vascular surgical techniques relating to advanced and complex open/endovascular operative treatment of a variety of vascular disorders to include the entire spectrum of interventions used to treat vascular disorders; knowledge and experience with management of vascular problems that also includes indicationfs and techniques relating to endovascular and open interventions; obtain medical license in Idaho.

Work Schedule: Traditional work week plus call and hospital responsibilities as well as support of a non-invasive vascular lab; a typical schedule could consist of two days in clinic and three days in the O.R. plus hospital consults, rounding & call.

Call: Share equally in vascular surgery call with other eligible members at our ACS verified Level II Trauma Center to ensure continuous uninterrupted vascular surgical coverage as determined by the SARMC Medical Director of Vascular Surgery.

EMR/EHR: Inpatient EMR /Order Entry: Cerner PowerChart®. Anticipated 2014 implementation of NextGen® Ambulatory EHR.  

Practice Opportunity Highlights

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a 280 provider multispecialty group practice that seeks a fellowship trained Vascular Surgeon (MD) possessing knowledge and experience with vascular surgical techniques relating to advanced and complex open as well as endovascular operative treatment of all manner of vascular disorders. The ideal candidate will commit to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care, desiring to contribute to the further expansion of a regional vascular referral center in support of a growing multi-specialty medical group.

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center is constructing a $4.2M Hybrid O.R. with Philips FlexMove technology. Set to open in the 2nd half of 2013, this room integrates a surgical operating room with an advanced x-ray imaging system. This will enable surgeons to perform the most advanced endovascular procedures.

There are 975 providers on the medical staff at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center (SARMC), with over 450 physicians holding active privileges along with over 180 allied health professionals. The environment of care is collaborative in nature and there are supportive and related specialties in such areas as cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, neurology, pulmonary/critical care, nephrology, neurosurgery and trauma surgery.  The hospital also has an award-winning inpatient diabetes program that is accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators. Our outstanding program was the first in Idaho (and 17th in the nation) to earn the Certificate of Distinction for Advanced Inpatient Diabetes Care from The Joint Commission. Saint Alphonsus also offers a Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Program that uses the sophisticated Sechrist Monoplace 4100 Hyperbaric Chamber.

Requirements of the position include a strong clinical and surgical background , completion of an ACGME accredited vascular surgery residency/fellowship and ABS certification in vascular surgery. The opportunity also requires Idaho licensure and granting of privileges at SARMC.

The vascular surgeons in the center also support a non-invasive vascular lab by providing oversight, supervision and interpretation of vascular studies. Although not a requirement, there is a preference for the Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) credential.
