Status: Full-time

Availability: Immediate; will consider 2016 trauma / surgical critical care fellows as well.

Requirements: Individual with a doctor of medicine (MD) or a doctor of osteopathy (DO) degree (MD/DO); successful completion of an ACGME accredited Trauma Fellowship, ABS Certifications in General Surgery & Surgical Critical Care (or obtain such certifications within 3 years of employment), unrestricted full license in Idaho and Oregon to practice medicine in all its phases; valid controlled substance registration with Idaho and Oregon Boards of Pharmacy & DEA; current ATLS instructor.

Work Schedule: Traditional work week plus call and hospital responsibilities, which will include evenings and weekends. Typical schedule involves rounding and call plus hospital consults and ambulatory clinic responsibilities.

Call: Equitably share trauma/acute care general surgery call with other eligible members of the SARMC Department of General, Vascular and Thoracic (GVT) Surgery at an ACS verified Level II Facility (trauma service presently includes 5 trauma surgeons and 4 PAs).

EMR/EHR: Inpatient EMR /Order Entry: Cerner PowerChart®

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a physician led and accountable 350+ provider multispecialty group practice with a five surgeon trauma service that seeks a fellowship trained Trauma Surgeon with an added credential in surgical critical care, who is committed to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care in support of a growing multi-specialty medical group and health system. SAMG is (predominantly) employed by and integrated within Saint Alphonsus Health System (SAHS). SAMG, with primary and specialty care providers at 74 clinic locations, is also a member of the Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance, a network of over 1,800 employed and independent providers.

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center is nationally verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) as a Level II Trauma Center (with Level I center type of acuity). The Saint Alphonsus Trauma Network spans southern Idaho, eastern Oregon and northern Nevada and brings a level of medical responsiveness that is unmatched throughout the region.

Requirements include a strong clinical background, completion of an ACGME accredited trauma fellowship, ABS certifications in general surgery and surgical critical care and current ATLS instructor. The opportunity also requires Idaho and Oregon licensure and granting of privileges at SARMC and other system hospitals as needed to strengthen the Health System’s trauma surgery program across all the communities we serve. Saint Alphonsus is the regional leader in telemedicine innovation and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to integrate the use of telemedicine into his/her practice to reach and better serve outlying communities. SARMC also has an established Cerner PowerChart® EHR; therefore, experience with electronic health records is desirable.
