Terri has always displayed a radiant smile. But at 265 pounds, she felt she had to hide her body. After Lap-Band® weight loss surgery at Saint Alphonsus, Terri lost 110 pounds and her shyness. With her new body came new energy for her children, her husband and herself. Now they’re all smiling.
Terri got ‘hit on’ while out with friends one night - and she couldn’t wait to tell her husband. At 265 pounds that never happened. But now, after losing 110 pounds, Terri is being noticed for all the right reasons.
Terri struggled with obesity since high school. “I was just disgusted with myself,” she laments. As a child Terri watched her mother suffer from obesity and the related health problems. Now, as a young mother herself, Terri felt the need to set a good example for her children. “I wanted to be a good role model.”
As a hospital nurse, Terri knew the potential complications of stomach surgery. But other nurses were telling her of positive results from a less invasive procedure, LAP-BAND® weight loss surgery. A co-worker’s personal success with Lap-Band® was the inspiration Terri needed. “I was very excited,” she recalls. After attending a Lap-Band seminar at Saint Alphonsus with her mother Terri reflects, “We both knew that was exactly what we wanted to do.”

Two years after her Lap-Band surgery at Saint Alphonsus, Terri at 5’8” is maintaining her goal weight of 155 pounds. “I don’t deprive myself of anything”, she says. “I eat half of what I used to and it just comes off.”
Terri now says, “I’m able to enjoy my kids, play with my kids, ride bikes and play softball. I have more confidence in myself. I don’t feel like I have to hide my body.” Terri quickly adds, “My husband is very excited too. He has loved the results.” She continues, “It was the best decision I ever made in my life.”
