What is a Stroke?
A stroke occurs when there is an interruption of the blood flow to any part of the brain. This is called a “brain attack.” Blood vessels supply the brain with vital oxygen and nutrients. A stroke occurs when blood flow to part of the brain becomes blocked, preventing oxygen and nutrients from reaching the brain.

Strokes are the leading cause of disability and the third leading cause of death in America, affecting over 700,000 people each year. Over 50 billion dollars is spent each year on strokes.
