Saint Alphonsus Life Flight provides advanced medical care and rapid air transport of critically injured and ill patients in life-threatening situations. The Life Flight crews are highly experienced pilots, flight nurses and paramedics trained to handle virtually any medical emergency and respond to rescues in any type of terrain.

The Saint Alphonsus Life Flight crew is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The nurses have extensive experience in critical care and advanced clinical nursing, requiring work experience in intensive care, cardiac care, cardiovascular care, and emergency departments. The paramedics bring critical experience in response scene management, triage, extrication and rescue, communications, and advanced clinical practice. The crewmembers are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatology Resuscitation (NRP), Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) and are specially trained in flight physiology and winter survival.

During flight, the crew has immediate access to the Saint Alphonsus Medical Center where a dispatch specialist relays information, using the latest mapping and reference systems, to guide the aircraft to its proper landing location and coordinate special resources as necessary. A board-certified emergency physician is able to monitor the medical situation during transport and prepare the emergency or trauma team for the patient's arrival.

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center is the region's most experienced Trauma Center, and the facility of choice for the optimal care of trauma patients. Surgeons with specialized backgrounds are available at Saint Alphonsus 24 hours a day, to provide experienced and immediate care to seriously injured patients. These specialists, along with a trained trauma staff and state-of-the-art facilities, provide the means for the best possible patient outcome.

The Saint Alphonsus Life Flight crew works closely with emergency and internal medicine physicians, trauma surgeons, cardiologists, neonatologists, perinatologists, pulmonologists, pediatric intensivists and burn specialists who provide medical direction for the flight program. These specialists work with Life Flight's medical director to determine critical care procedures, approve new medications and treatment options, and review the latest flight-worthy equipment to ensure each patient is receiving the highest quality care.
