Cancer Care Center Clinical Research

The Saint Alphonsus Cancer Care Center participates in many clinical trials to investigate better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Taking part in a clinical trial has many possible benefits. You have access to newer treatments and drugs that are not otherwise generally available. You contribute to furthering knowledge about cancer treatment.

You are also taking an active role in your healthcare. And your treatment begins only after you have a thorough understanding of the possible risks and benefits. Also, when participating in a cancer clinical study, you are working with a specialized team of doctors, nurses, social workers, dieticians and other healthcare professionals to monitor your care and progress.

Through our membership in the Northwest Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP), we ensure that our patients have access to the newest available treatments being studied in major research centers nationwide. In addition, we also participate in national cancer prevention studies. Mechanisms are in place nationwide to ensure the ethical, financial and clinical integrity of the studies conducted.

We participate with the following national clinical trial cooperative groups and leading research institutions to offer a broad range of trials to our patients:

  • Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG)
  • National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP)
  • University of Rochester Cancer Center (URCC)
  • Cancer Trials Support Unit (CTSU)
  • Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG)
