Practice Opportunity Highlights
Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a 270 provider multispecialty group practice seeking a board certified or board eligible pediatrician who is committed to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care and willing to support growing a pediatric practice in two communities that are underserved in Pediatrics, Nampa and Kuna, Idaho approximately five miles from each other, as part of a dedicated pediatric program within a multi-specialty medical group framework. This opportunity is perfect for the pediatrician who seeks a more rural practice with the support of a large health system and well organized multispecialty group practice including 13 other pediatric providers in the system.
Responsibilities include management of the pediatric health services patient. This involves direct management of the patient including, but not limited to, the following exams, procedures and services: annual and routine well child check exams, acute illness, inpatient services and injury care, et al. Collaboration with obstetricians in deliveries and subsequent neonatal care is expected although the scope of care does not include care of critically ill infants. The provider will also ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility and request timely consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
The qualified candidate must be passionate about pediatric health issues and demonstrate evidence of comprehensive assessment skills, expert clinical skills and problem solving abilities. The provider must hold a valid controlled substance registration with both the Idaho Board of Pharmacy and the DEA. The desirable candidate will also have prior pediatric practice healthcare experience in a clinic setting, this experience can be through a residency program. Moreover, SAMG is in the process of implementing the NexGen® electronic health record (EHR) in its clinics and Saint Alphonsus has an established Cerner PowerChart® EHR. Therefore, experience with EHRs is desirable.

The Boise Metropolitan Area, also known as the Treasure Valley officially consists of five counties in Southwestern Idaho, anchored by the cities of Boise and Nampa. With a population of more than 625,000, the region is a commercial center in the Northwest, an outdoor enthusiast's paradise and a flourishing scene for arts and entertainment. The Treasure Valley offers a reasonable cost of living, low crime rate, excellent cultural programs, numerous neighborhood parks and nearby national forests and rivers.
Nampa is located in the center of the Boise Metro Area, just 15 minutes from downtown Boise. Nampa has the Snake River, Lake Lowell and the Owyhee Mountains to the South and the Boise River to the North. The city sits at an elevation of 2,480 feet, and the high desert climate offers four seasons with mild winters.
Since 2000, Nampa has grown more than any other Idaho city. Growth rates of roughly 8% over several consecutive years amount to a population of roughly 83,000, making Nampa the 2nd largest city in Idaho. Less than 20 miles from the Boise Airport, Nampa is located along Interstate 84 and the area boasts excellent transportation corridors in all four directions.
While Boise is the city named on the lists, rankings really extend beyond the city and apply to all of the Treasure Valley. Several high-profile publications rank the area as one of the best places in the country to do business and live. Outside Magazine recently said, “The winner for best overall town in the western U.S. is Boise, Idaho.” Forbes Magazine, and the Brookings Institute are also highly complimentary. CNN Money just named Idaho as the friendliest state for small businesses, and Idaho's low cost of living and culture of physician independence make it the best place in America to be a practicing physician for the second straight year.
