Requirements: Individual with a doctor of medicine (MD) or a doctor of osteopathy (DO) degree (MD/DO); successful completion of an accredited internal medicine residency program; current, unrestricted full license in Idaho and Oregon to practice medicine in all its phases; valid controlled substance registration with Idaho and Oregon Boards of Pharmacy and DEA; board certification through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM) (or obtain such certification within 3 years of employment).

Work Schedule: Traditional clinic work week, Monday through Friday; no less than 36 hours of scheduled patient contact time

Call Coverage: 1:10 practice call shared equally among SAMG IM providers; SARMC operates an Inpatient Hospitalist Service

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a physician led and accountable 325+ provider multispecialty group practice seeking Internal Medicine physicians to join its growing ambulist group practice model located throughout the greater Boise, Idaho metropolitan area. SAMG seeks internists who are committed to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care and are willing to support thriving internal medicine practices. We have opportunities at two SAMG clinic locations in AdaCounty to include the cities of Boise and Meridian.  All of these practices are well-established and have robust and loyal patient followings.

The affiliated hospital, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center (SARMC), operates a 24-7 adult medicine hospitalist service. The adult medicine hospitalists are the primary admitting service for the vast majority of primary care providers in the Saint Alphonsus network.  The group manages a high acuity medical service, is integrally involved with the stroke program, works in co-management with orthopedics, and is looking to further expand perioperative services and consult services.

Requirements include a strong internal medicine background with geriatrics and a desire to develop a practice to support a growing multi-specialty medical group.  The physician will also ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility and request timely consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated. The qualified candidate must be passionate about adult health issues and demonstrate evidence of comprehensive assessment skills, expert clinical skills and problem solving abilities.

The ideal candidate will commit to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care while demonstrating and modeling our organization’s core values of reverence, a commitment to those who are poor, justice, stewardship and integrity. As a member of the medical group, you will also need to obtain Idaho and Oregon medical licensure to maintain and strengthen the Health System’s family medicine program across all communities we serve.  The physician must hold a valid controlled substance registration with both the Idaho and Oregon Boards of Pharmacy and the DEA. The opportunity also requires the granting of privileges at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center (SARMC).

The desirable candidate will also have prior internal medicine healthcare experience in a clinic setting; this experience may be through a residency training program. Moreover, Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) utilizes the NexGen® electronic health record (EHR) in its clinics and each Saint Alphonsus hospital facility utilizes Cerner PowerChart® EHR and CPOE. Therefore, experience with EHRs is advantageous.

Saint Alphonsus is a 387 bed regional medical center serving people throughout the Northwest and is the region’s principal provider of advanced, innovative and interdisciplinary critical care services. The environment of care is collaborative in nature and there are supportive and related specialties available 24/7 in such areas as Orthopedics, in-house Interventional Radiology, Neurosurgery,  Vascular Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. There is also a full complement of fellowship trained Pulmonologists/Intensivists, Cardiologists, Neurologists, et al. The hospital also has an award-winning inpatient diabetes program that is accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators. Our outstanding program was the first in Idaho (and 17th in the nation) to earn the Certificate of Distinction for Advanced Inpatient Diabetes Care from The Joint Commission. Saint Alphonsus also offers a Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Program that uses the sophisticated Sechrist Monoplace 4100 Hyperbaric Chamber.

Saint Alphonsus is also the principal provider of advanced, innovative and interdisciplinary neurological services, and was the first Joint Commission accredited Advanced Primary Stroke Center in the region. As the regional provider of advanced neurological services, Saint Alphonsus neurologists have the opportunity to provide care for patients with complex neurovascular conditions, neurodegenerative disorders, seizures, and general neurological disease.
