Meet the Fellows
Robert "Bob" J. Schenck, Jr., MD

Dr. Robert "Bob" Schenck, Jr. is Chairman
of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of New
Mexico. Dr. Schenck carries a full-time clinical practice in orthopaedic sports
medicine, and is head team physician of the University of New Mexico Lobo athletic
teams.
Dr. Schenck's undergraduate education began at Colorado Mountain College and the University of Colorado, eventually obtaining his BA degree in Human Biology at Johns Hopkins University in 1981. He graduated from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1984, and completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland in 1989. Dr. Schenck has completed two post-graduate fellowships, one in sports medicine with Dr. Frank Noyes at Cincinnati Sports medicine Orthopaedic Center from 1989 to 1990, and a foot and ankle fellowship while on sabbatical in Boise, Idaho with Dr. Michael Coughlin in 2000.
Dr. Schenck's interests include athletic injuries of the ankle, knee, and shoulder, and is a Board Certified (ABOS) Orthopaedic surgeon since 1992. Dr. Schenck's clinical interests involve that of cartilage repair, multiple ligamentous injuries of the knee, ankle instability, and arthroscopic shoulder reconstructions.
