Requirements: Individual with a doctor of medicine (MD) or a doctor of osteopathy (DO) degree (MD/DO); completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Family Practice residency program and Sports Medicine fellowship; Sports Medicine subspecialty board certification through the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine (AOASM) (or obtain such certification within 3 years of employment); full license in Idaho and Oregon to practice medicine in all its phases; valid controlled substance registration with Idaho Board of Pharmacy & DEA.
Work Schedule: Days with occasional evenings and weekends
Call: Covering FP-Sports Patients (to be developed)
EMR/EHR: Ambulatory EHR to be installed within 18 months

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a physician led and accountable 280+ provider multispecialty group practice that seeks a Family Practitioner/Sports Medicine Fellow (MD/DO) to work full-time at its Hartman clinic and a satellite clinic embedded in a local YMCA. Saint Alphonsus Medical Group – Sports Medicine is dedicated to providing services for a full spectrum of musculoskeletal patients.
The PCP-Sports physician will act as key diagnostician for musculoskeletal patients in clinic with or without physician referral managing patient diagnostic needs to include: MRI / CT / Bone studies. The candidate will be skilled in the interpretation of x-ray studies and trained to perform musculoskeletal ultrasound. The PCP-Sports physician will work closely with physical therapy (PT) providers developing protocols for treatment to expedite return to play. The candidate will perform clinical injections as appropriate for swelling / pain relief.
The ideal candidate will have experience in program development; leading discussions in developing consensus in treatment protocols, and assisting in the selection, training, and retention of allied health professionals (ATCs, PTs) that support a comprehensive, region-wide sports program.
The PCP-Sports physician will work closely with STARS (Saint Alphonsus Rehabilitation Services) Athletic Trainers to develop relations with local athletic teams and schools to provide scheduled athletic event on-site injury diagnosis and triage and injury prevention / concussion management training to ATCs and coaches. Training and experience in IMPACT is preferred.
As a member of the medical group, you will also need to obtain Idaho and Oregon medical licensure to maintain and strengthen the Health System’s sports medicine program across all communities we serve. The opportunity also requires privileges at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center (SARMC).
