Practice Scope: Saint Alphonsus Pathology is a hospital-based pathology model within Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG), a regional, vibrant and growing multispecialty group practice.  Our Pathologists enjoy referrals from a broad spectrum of primary care, specialists & sub specialists from SAMG and the broader Southwestern Idaho medical community. The Pathologist team also collaborates with a variety of surgeons to provide frozen sections and inpatient pathology diagnoses.  The team receives approximately 15,000 specimens per year and assists with approximately 600 frozen sections per year.

Requirements: Board Certified in Anatomical, Clinical and Dermatopathology. Become licensed in Idaho & Oregon.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday work week with 8 hour shifts.

Staffing Model: Four physician group with all physicians required to do their share of general pathology in combination with their respective individual specialties of Cytology, Neuropathology and Dermatopathology.  Dermpath has the ability to enrich their surgical pathology load with skin cases, according to his/her desires.     

Call: Divided equally among all four pathologists, call typically involves weekend and evening coverage.  The pathologists' call coverage consists of surgical pathology & clinical pathology. The call is restricted to the medical center patients only.

EMR/EHR: Inpatient EMR /Order Entry: Cerner PowerChart®; Anticipated implementation of NextGen® Ambulatory HER.  The practice currently uses CoPath for its information system, and utilizes the ThinPrep® Imager for gynecologic cytopathology.

Practice Opportunity Highlights

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a physician led and accountable 270 provider multispecialty group practice that has an excellent opportunity for a Dermatopathologist to join its well-established pathology group located in Boise, Idaho. Currently, the group consists of four pathologists and a dedicated staff of two physician assistants, three cytotechnologists, three histologists and six administrative staff.

These pathologists provide coverage for a regional technically advanced trauma center, which has achieved an award winning level of care.  The group manages a high volume pathology service, which includes:  3200 skin cases, 12,500 surgical path cases, 350 bone marrow cases, 30,000 PAPs, 12-24 autopsies and 600 fine needle aspiration (rapid bedside diagnosis) cases.

Requirements include a strong Anatomical and Clinical Pathology background with fellowship training in Dermatopatholgy and a desire to develop a practice to support a growing multi-specialty medical group.  In providing this support, you will obtain Idaho and Oregon medical licensure to maintain and strengthen the Health System’s pathology programs across all communities we serve.
