The Saint Alphonsus Cancer Care Center participates in many clinical trials to investigate better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Taking part in a clinical trial has many possible benefits. You have access to newer treatments and drugs that are not otherwise generally available. You contribute to furthering knowledge about cancer treatment.
You are also taking an active role in your healthcare. And your treatment begins only after you have a thorough understanding of the possible risks and benefits. Also, when participating in a cancer clinical study, you are working with a specialized team of doctors, nurses, social workers, dieticians and other healthcare professionals to monitor your care and progress.
The Saint Alphonsus Cancer Care Center has been approved for membership in the Michigan Cancer Research Consortium, a research cooperative group administered by our Trinity Health partner, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
This cooperative currently consists of 13 independent cancer treatment facilities, several of whom are Trinity affiliates. Through collaboration, these sites are able to offer their patients a wide variety of cancer treatment, cancer prevention, and cancer control trials that they would not otherwise have access to.
