Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center Earns ACR Accreditation in Computed Tomography (CT)
Only hospital with ACR accreditation for Cardiac CT in Idaho
(Boise, Idaho) — Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). SARMC is the only hospital in Idaho to earn ACR accreditation for Cardiac CT. CT scanning — sometimes called CAT scanning — is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for various medical conditions. In addition to cardiac CT, Saint Alphonsus earned accreditation in the areas of abdomen, head/neck, and chest.
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
This is not Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center’s first accreditation by ACR. Saint Alphonsus is also accredited in Ultrasound and in 2010, the ACR designated the Saint Alphonsus Breast Care Center as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence for achieving accreditations in all breast imaging modalities.
“This accreditation underscores our commitment to providing the highest quality services to our community,” said Rodney Reider, president Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. “We are proud to offer our community state-of-the-art, life-saving CT technology provided in a safe, patient-centered environment."
The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 36,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
